Biography

Hon Damien O’Connor is the Minister of State for Trade and Export Growth, with responsibility for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership trade negotiation. In addition to this portfolio, he is the New Zealand Minister responsible for Agriculture, Biosecurity, Food Safety and Rural Communities. Hon Damien O’Connor was first elected to the New Zealand Parliament in 1993 and has served as a Minister in both the fifth and sixth Labour Governments, and Spokesperson in Opposition for a variety of roles, including Agriculture, Biosecurity, Food Safety, Tourism, Immigration and Health.
